HESTER STREET. From "Rider's New York City - A Guide-Book for Travelers," New York, Henry Holt and Company, c1916, p. 151. "Bayard and Hester Sts., just S. and N. of Canal, are reminders of the Bayard farm stretching along the W. side of the Bowery as far as Bleecker St., and belonging to a nephew of Peter Stuyvesant, the second of these streets was named after Hester Bayard." #324 Byron Collection Museum of the City of New York N.B. Only Museum of City of New York negative to be used. Identified in Museum of City of New York collection as "Hester Street."
